VALINOR "It Is Night" - light in Poland heavy music catacombs

Gooses have saved Rome and the horse has brought to ruin Troy in ancient times. Parallels could be found reviewing the state of modern heavy music stage worldwide. Western countries face to risk to be fulfilled by a lot of bands of similar style because the spread of musical fashion seems not to be prevented by borders, even in hard scene. The metal could be ruined eventually. Where is the escape? The look should be pointed to East, to Poland , for instance. The metal stage of the land is divided to well-known and less known acts. And the most potential seems to be found among the latter ones.

VALINOR's album "It Is Night" accessed my hands by lucky chance. I fell in love with that from the first ear (it's spring, nothing to do.). If without sentiments, to tell the truth - the product of few years age is a bright light in catacombs of heavy music, for unknown reason still not to shine to mass of metalheads. The band was started back in early 1993 but remained almost unknown until now. The main reason should be the repeated turnover in staff, I guess. Nevertheless, VALINOR opened "Metalmania 2005" on small stage. Unfortunately, that happened early in the morning ant the band remained without personal attention just because we traveled from Lithuania and were in the bus at that moment yet. Now I understand what a loss was then.

What's about the release? There you won't hear neither true death, black/pagan, nor nu-metal. Also there is nothing about heavy, power or thrash metal even one should expect those because of styles rise nowadays. So what? It is very original, memorable, just excellent mix of sympho-black, folk, gothic, vested with robe of melody and flavored with a little bit of death "taste". It he case of the band origin from Scandinavia , I even say one could see the Viking metal influence. Strong and rich Jakub Glab double vocals with the choir of four guest ladies create dark and gloomy atmosphere. The impression also is strengthened by two guest keyboardists. Of course, the good job of both guitarists and rhythm section is worth to be noted as well. All in all we have nine melodic and angry, dynamic and slow compositions. One of those, " In the mist.", is in three parts. The one as well as "Chasing the moral's luxury" (dark prayer), "Falseness and struggle" (bells) and "Your love" (water) create the incredibility of the album most of all. Other tracks also are worth of attention without doubt. So the good reviews for "It Is Night" in metal press were not occasional!

The album is strongly recommended. If you will get a lucky chance to get it like me, take it and do not think twice about that. I have never even thought about giving nine points from ten in the review of album of not well-known band. And now I do that because VALINOR are really good. Let more bands of such potential and ideas to rise from the crypt and metal music will be saved from possible agony.
