Panzerfaust

This band was formed in 1993 and has always been one of the leaders of melodic metal in our underground. But to be honest with you, music of VALINOR isn't my cup of tea at all. I've never been huge fan of such melodic playing, where melody rules over everything else. Such is "Hidden Beauty" - this album contains nice, sweet, harmonious music, not much aggressive though. And as such it's fine - it's really well composed and performed, nothing to complain about musicians' ability to play, also the sound is very good. But to my taste, this music is boring and hasn't got much in common with metal rudiments. Where's the aggressiveness, rebel, nastiness? I mean, I like metal to be disgusting and brutal, dirty and even slightly melodic, but "Hidden Beauty" overdose the melodies in uncommon ways. I could almost puke with all these sweetness in here! I lack even decent metal riffing, since all guitar parts seams to be like solo leads, not the typical aggressive thrashy riff. And of course the keyboards are also present, putting some more sweet into this already too creamy and sugary cake! So, I would never call this album death or black, not at all. There are some slight influences from these genres (like raw vocals!), but at the same time one could find some heavy metal touches in it. So, in the end lets just call it very melodic, unpowerful metal. Boring, but good enough for girls and wimps.
